ABOUT FOLLOW UP CONFERENCE

TEXT SIZE:   S   M   L   XL

The MTD Follow-Up Conference is a unique benefit to GCM staff in the Initial MTD Phase.  The gathering allows us to take a 24-hour breather from the hard work of raising support—those long nights of phone calls and quick prayers in the car on the way to presentations. As a part of our goal to make each fund-raiser successful, the conference provides crucial encouragement from others who are similarly living by faith and includes a one-on-one consultation on strategy with an experienced coach.  Almost universally, our staff leave with a renewed vision on the MTD process.

In preparation for the conference we ask that you please read through the pages listed on the left sidebar carefully—it includes information you will need.

What is the MTD Follow Up Conference?

The MTD Follow Up Conference is an opportunity to connect with MTD trainers and coaches, as well as, other staff who are doing MTD.  It's also a time to hear about the tools that can help you with your MTD and some new ideas that staff around the world are implementing and finding successful in their MTD journeys  This time is designed as a time to be encouraged, refreshed, and to strategically look at your individual MTD situation. Topics can change from one conference to the next to meet the needs of the participants.  Examples of past sessions include:

  • Refreshing our Biblical Perspective on MTD
  • Raising Funds More Quickly
  • Using MyGCM Effectively
  • Group Strategies
  • Asking for New Names
  • Establishing New Name Pools
  • Improving Your Presentation
  • Organization and Planning
  • GCM Policies and Paperwork

We always try to include times of prayer, encouragement, and discussion during the time.

Every participant will also be given a 45 - 60 minute individual session with one of our trainers where you will be given the opportunity to discuss your specific situation and address any questions you may have.

Staff Eligibility & Expected Attendance

All GCM staff members who have completed the New Staff Training at any time are eligble to attend an MTD Follow-Up Conference.   Most fulltime GCM staff who are in the “Initial MTD Phase” are expected to attend. (Full -time MTD status is defined by employment status of 30+ hours weekly). Staff raising funds on a Part-time or Associate basis are strongly encouraged to attend as they are able.  Staff who have been previously released to assignment but are looking for encouragement and to “brush-up” on vision and skills are also invited.

GCM Managers or Coaches may file an exception request based on the following conditions. (GCM Missionaries may not file an exception request without their coach or manager).

  1. Better Than Average Performance.  Staff exceeding $100 monthly recurring giving each week (as a total average within the GCM prescribed evaluation dates) are eligble for an exception to required attendance.  This is in the interest of retaining momentum for a specific MTD strategy.  Many will still find attendance helpful and will choose to attend. (30-hour status employees are evaluated at $75).  MTD Coaches must submit this written request with numbers to be verified.
The data evaluation dates for the March Follow-Up Conference are:  March 20, 2011 - Aug 31, 2011.
  2. Life Event or Hardship Appeal.  A GCM Manager or Coach may file an appeal on behalf of a GCM staff member based on significant life events (new baby, wedding) or significant financial hardship.  This must be in writing.
  3. Coaches Appeal.   A GCM Coach may file an appeal based on MTD strategy if it can be shown that attendance will significantly hinder the MTD process or strategy.   This must be in writing.

Appeals from a GCM Manager or Coach must be writing (a formal/detailed e-mail is appropriate.  That may be sent to GCM by emailing staff.program@gcmweb.org. These will be reviewed on a case by case basis, and are granted  with approval from the Missionary Resources Dept.
