why it matters
In cities across the United States and the world, people desperately need to hear the life-changing message of Jesus Christ. Sin and darkness are alienating people from God and wreaking havoc in families and societies. Meanwhile, false religions are on the rise, promising hope but only leading people astray.
There is a tremendous need, but also a tremendous opportunity, for gospel-driven churches and missionaries in the world today. Jesus assures us in Matthew 16:18, “I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it.”
GCM missionaries serve in churches that are reaching out to the unsaved to an extent that keeps them from being able to financially support their own staff. Some missionaries work at campus churches that are located on a college or university campus. Because these churches primarily reach a student population, tithes and offerings alone are insufficient to fund the workers they need for the task of evangelism and discipleship.
Other GCM missionaries serve in church plants. Starting new churches is an exciting way to expand the kingdom, but it is often a financial challenge. It takes time for young congregations to gain enough members to support their own pastors and staff, so a partnership with GCM helps church planters find funding.
About 30% of GCM missionaries work overseas in international churches. These missionaries need a team of supporters to establish themselves in a new culture and build a church by reaching out to the lost.
GCM supports missionaries working in other forms of missional churches in the U.S. and overseas, wherever the demographic being reached is unable to support full-time staff.
