One of the most strategic places for the church of God is on or near college campuses.
As students are preparing for careers, they are also establishing a spiritual course for their lives. The college years are a pivotal time, as more than three out of four born again Christians today say that they embraced Christ before their twenty-first birthday (article).
While there is great potential, there is also great need. Studies by the Barna Group show that most twenty-somethings "put Christianity on the shelf following spiritually active teen years" (more). Churches that help students make the transition into faith-filled adulthood will have a tremendous impact on the future.
About 60 percent of GCM missionaries work in campus churches, for the express purpose of ministering to students through evangelism and discipleship. |
